Definitely moving
Over the last week it has become apparent that the lab has funding for possibly 2 people for another couple of months but at this point nothing is guaranteed. Everyone in the lab is making plans for cutting back expenses and such. We have decided to take Dr. Soni's offer and will be moving to Tennessee around Christmas. I am giving my 2 week notice when I return to work after the break. While I will miss my co-workers and friends, I feel it is the best thing for us. Our house is still on the market and at this point has had 2 open houses but not had any offers.

Way things happen
This past summer David's boss leaves and goes to Tennessee Tech. He offers to take several people from the lab. David and I discuss it and decide to put the house on the market because at this point no one knows what is going to happen at the lab David is working in, it is entirely possible that come January 1, there is no funding for anyone of the 8 people working there.

The way things go
Well, Spring Break arrives. We had planned to go to the Grand Caynon with my in-laws, but delayed that due to my mother-in-law's health and restrictions on travel right now for her. So David took off Monday and Tuesday to spend the time with Xander.
David has been telling me that he had pulled a muscle or slept wrong for the last week. Tuesday night when we dropped Xander off with David's parents at dinner, David tells us that he is having sharp pains in his left elbow. My mother-in-laws first thought is heart and David tells her no, it is not in his chest. On the drive home, he complains of more sharp pains. I mention going to the emergency room. He agrees to go to the doc in the box on the way home from work the next day if it is still bothering him. Of course it is, and now his hand is actually going numb. They give him a few little tests and tell him to go imediately to the ER.
We go to the ER. We spend the night sitting in ER room taking X-Ray's, EKG's, MRI's and finally being told that he has a bulging disc that is so bad that they recommend surgery as soon as they can get a surgerical room available, which looked to be around twelve hours from then. So sent facebook messages to keep people informed, because for once, I did not have my phone chargers on me but I did have my iPad charger and the hospital had free wifi.
David ended up having spinal surgery on C6 and C7 Thursday afternoon. It was only supposed to take about 3 hours but took a little longer because of the size of his bones. The doctor said he had neck bones the size of some peoples back bones. He finally got to his room for the night around 8:45, Xander got to kiss him good night before heading back to Decatur with David's parents. I stayed for about another hour to make sure he was situated and then I carried out all his clothes and drove home to take care of the dogs and grab 6 hours of sleep before heading back to the hospital to pick him up to come home.

Hard work done around the house by David
As you have read, David had started painting the walls in the living room before Christmas. He has since finished painting the walls and has now started painting the ceiling.
You can't tell it well in these photo's
This one shows it better but only has 1 coat of paint on the ceiling
Now to the outside we go.
We have had some nice weather down here. We had 50+, 60+, 70+ days so we spent the weekend working on the garden
We decided to splurge and buy rubber mulch and see how that works/lasts.

Painting of Ceilings
Well, David started painting the Kitchen ceiling and he finished half the Kitchen with 2 coats, the other half has not received its first coat as yet. He has now started on the living room ceiling and 1/3 has received its second coat, another 1/3 has received its first coat with the 2/3 awaiting its first coat. He has started hanging the screen door on the back porch but we need to go buy some spacer pieces the length (height) of the doorway to finish. He has arranged for someone to come out next week to install the other 2 screen doors. The doors have gotten use to using the dog door in the new screen door so I won't have to go out to finish letting them outside. YEAH.

Painting
Well this past weekend, David finished painting the Living Room walls. Now we just need to do the ceiling, baseboards, and crown molding. Last week he had started painting the Kitchen ceiling, painted about half of the ceiling with one coat and we have not touched it since. At least the Living room walls were done. The living room is already starting to look better.

Painting, Cleaning, Quilting, etc
So, we finally decided on a color for the kitchen. David is now working on finishing at least the walls in the living room. He has patched up all the spots that needed fixing in the living room. He has also started putting the first coat on the ceiling in the kitchen.
I have been cleaning the DVD bookcase, dusted it from top to bottom, reorganized and decorated. Working on cleaning up the kitchen.
I am hoping to get the dining room cleaned up so David can paint the ceiling. He wants it cleaned up so he can paint the whole room, I want it cleaned up so he can paint the ceiling and I can start back to working on my quilts.
This past weekend, Xander helped clean up and sorting for donating a lot of clothes to Hannah Homes/Kings Ranch. I have found a few more items to donate next month.
Xander is enjoying his drum lessons. The last few weeks I have been taking Xander to Tuscaloosa for his Drum lessons, we grab lunch right before his lessons. While we are gone, David has been using the quiet time to study (or as quiet as the time can be with 2 dogs that constantly want in or out when someone is home). He seems to be able to accomplish a lot of what he wants/needs to get done while we are gone, at least more than he would in the same amount of time when we are all at home on the weekends.
